Description Please Note: This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ and is a hybrid role working in the office 3 days per week as defined by the company Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring an Assistant Controller to become an important part of our high growth team. The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions and drive the monthly close while creating. This position reports to the Controller, VP of Finance and Accounting and is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), reviewing and analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports. Monitor and review financial transactions and activities of the company. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with various statutory requirements, GAAP, and established policies and procedures. Maintain accounting controls and audit documents. ? Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documents. Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed. Assist with external audit requests and provide information as requested. Participate in special projects, team training, and development of team members. Provide technical accounting support to various departments. Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or require Requirements College Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 7 years of Accounting/Finance experience. Private Equity backed company experienced highly preferred. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365. Experience with Intacct or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software preferred. Knowledge of the full accounting cycle. Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas. Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment. Ability to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters Excellent understanding of English, both written and verbal required; ability to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner with employees, clients, vendors, business contacts Ability to adhere to a high level of attention to detail Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management Ability to be self-directed in a team-oriented environment Position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, and occasional walking and standing. Position requires light to moderate work with 20 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. Position requires frequent use of a computer, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing. Tools and Equipment Requirements: The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required. Frequent use of Microsoft office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required. Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard. Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Some lifting may be required. Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required. Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.
