Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are now looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in a fixed-term position as a parental leave substitute, at least until 31.12.2026. This diverse role offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally and develop the finance function of a growing company alongside the team. You will work as part of our existing Financial Controlling team and your main tasks will be,

  • Assisting in Kempower Oyj’s monthly statutory financial reporting in designated areas
  • Guiding and advising the external accountant on various topics, such as processing employee travel expense claims
  • Assisting in maintaining the fixed assets accounting and reporting
  • Guiding and advising internally the investment portal users
  • Assisting in monthly VAT reporting and participating in the development of the parent company’s accounting and reporting systems
  • Updating Intranet related to the finance department’s accounting policies, functionalities, and other guidance
  • In addition to that, there are also many opportunities to take on, be it some additional tasks or different projects.

At Kempower, we work in a hybrid model. Our Headquarters is in Lahti, but we also have offices in Helsinki, Tampere and Vaasa. In this role, we expect the selected candidate to occasionally visit our offices in Lahti or Helsinki to meet the team.

WHAT HELPS YOU SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

  • You can be a newly graduated (B.Sc or M.Sc in Accounting/Finance) or have a few years of experience in similar roles
  • Some previous experience in external accounting and knowledge of accounting legislation
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Desire to search, analyze and compile information together
  • Previous experience in different accounting and reporting systems is seen as an advantage
  • A hands-on attitude and mindset where problems are made to be solved
  • Natural collaboration and communication skills
  • Precise, thorough and well-organized working manners with the ability to prioritize
    Self-initiative, natural curiosity and a willingness to learn new things are important qualities. While the rhythm of work in a financial organization is determined by routines, we hope you will not be afraid of fast-changing situations. The most important thing is a passion to move forward.
    As our official company language is English, proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Due to the nature of the role, we also expect fluency in Finnish.
