POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our fractional CFO, accounting, and tax firm is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller / Senior Accountant to support our clients. This role will involve a wide range of accounting and financial tasks, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, managing general ledger activities, and providing insightful financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple clients’ needs effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role; experience in a public accounting or fractional CFO firm is a plus.
  • CPA designation or progress toward obtaining it is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial clients.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for clients in various industries.
  • Manage and maintain clients’ general ledgers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including reconciliation and reporting.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variances for client management.
  • Assist in preparing tax filings and collaborating with tax professionals to ensure timely compliance.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and provide actionable insights to clients.
  • Assist in audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure efficient accounting operations and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the partner and clients.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
