HASEKO (Hawaii), INC. & Subsidiaries   Job Title: Assistant Controller  Status: Full Time, Exempt Honolulu, HI, US Salary Range: $130,000 – $135,000 annually Summary /Objective Establish, manage and maintain an effective system of internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure the accounting department properly records transactions; prepares accurate, timely and reliable financial and tax reporting in compliance with laws, regulations and policies. Specific Accountabilities 1. Lead and supervise, Waterfront Recreation Facilities’ operators’ accounting and financial reporting practices at the facility locations 2. Maintain a strong internal control environment and adherence to appropriate accounting policies and procedures in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley/JSOX requirements and US GAAP rules and regulations. Ensure that no significant or material weaknesses exist and that complex transactions are properly recorded in accordance with US GAAP. 3. Develop, improve and manage the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external quarterly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets. 4. Assure all corporate income tax returns are in compliance with tax codes, accurate and filed timely. 5. Oversee the activities of the accounting department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of tasks, including but not limited to banking, investment, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, with applicable internal controls , 6. Coordinate external auditors, prepare audit materials and serve as the primary contact for the independent auditors on all accounting matters with Controller. 7. Prepare reports and memos for the senior management and Accounting department needs Skills and Qualifications: * Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous, ethical and professional manner. * Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. * Excellent oral and written communications skills, with strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and accounting software. * Must be highly organized and initiative-taking, able to manage multiple tasks. * Excellent supervisory skills. * Problem solving * Self-directive   Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance Ten years of direct accounting and management experiences CPA certification Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree Large international or local CPA firm experience preferably in Assurance division Multiple layers of consolidation, equity Investments, US GAAP research, developer, construction and real estate sales experiences System conversion, implementation Federal contracts and cost reports Work Environment This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.   Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
