About the Position
New Roots Herbal and its affiliated companies are a group of entities whose activities continue to grow, and we are currently strengthening our Accounting Department. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will be supported by accounting technicians and the accounts receivable and payable teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • University degree in accounting.
  • More than five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Experience managing full-cycle bookkeeping and preparing financial statements.
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems, SAP Business One, SQL (an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills and proven ability to handle large amounts of data.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing cost calculation.
  • Attention to detail, meticulousness, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team spirit, ability to work effectively under pressure, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both French and English (English is necessary due to presence across Canada and internationally).
  • Excellent time management, project management, and planning skills.

EDUCATION

University degree in accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the complete accounting cycle and month-end process for various entities.
  • Support the international sales team in their expansion to ensure financial transactions are recorded promptly and inventories are balanced monthly.
  • Reconcile inventories monthly and investigate to correct any errors that may have occurred. Participate in the continuous improvement of business processes in production, inventory management, and inter-company transactions.
  • Contribute to the improvement and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Reconcile inter-company accounts.
  • Maintain capital expenditure records and depreciation.
  • Keep schedules of prepaid expenses and accrued expenses up to date.
  • Record monthly accrued expense entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Validate and review expense accounts, credit card statements, and supporting documents, distribute to the general ledger, and ensure timely recording with duly signed approval.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements supported by monthly and annual analyses.
  • Participate in year-end audit preparation and any other government audits.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in all financial matters of the organization.
  • Provide support to Accounting Department members in the performance of their tasks.
  • Participate in establishing manufacturing costs.
  • Assist with special projects and/or any other related tasks as needed.
