ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

The Arc Westchester, a leading social services agency dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Finance Department. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the agency’s mission while managing essential accounting and financial operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in non-profit healthcare or a similar agency is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with auditing practices and regulatory reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and documentation skills.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and accounting staff.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closings.
  • Lead the preparation for the annual audit and manage auditor requests.
  • Compile and submit the consolidated fiscal report.
  • Assist in developing the agency’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Collect and organize data for annual 990 tax filings.
  • Oversee foundation deposits and restricted funds.
  • Prepare quarterly board financial packets.
  • Research and recommend improvements to internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Complete special projects assigned by the Controller and CFO.
