Assistant Cook / Kitchen Helper (m/f/d) – Winter Season Bad Gastein
Welcome to the suite life. And to your new job.
Free on-site staff accommodation in Bad Gastein. Starting at €2,250 gross per month, a genuine overpayment. Season: December 2026 to mid-April 2027.
BENSIMON apartments Austria operates two boutique apartment buildings with a total of 44 design apartments in Bad Gastein: the Residenz Boutique Suites and the Club Alpenresidenz.
JOLIE is the café-bar of the Boutique Suites residence – a place with a French-Austrian bistro feel. In winter, we serve breakfast for hotel guests in the mornings and from the afternoon onwards, we operate as a bar: wine, aperitifs, spritzers and cocktails, along with a small, carefully curated menu.
For this, we are looking for someone who has the kitchen under control – not as a star chef, but as someone who prepares reliably, works cleanly and is keen to give the evening its own little meal.
YOUR ROLE
Breakfast
You prepare breakfast for our hotel guests: setting up the buffet, bread and pastries, cold cuts and cheese, egg dishes, fruit, muesli – on time, fresh and neatly.
You refill during breakfast, then dismantle and clean.
You write the order list for the next day.
Preparation for the evening
You will do the mise en place for the bar kitchen: sandwiches, breads, cheese and cold cut platters, small hot and cold dishes according to our menu.
You portion, label and chill so that the bar team only has to plate the food in the evening.
You will be responsible for receiving goods, maintaining the warehouse, ensuring the cold chain, and maintaining hygiene (HACCP) in the kitchen.
Your own evening offer – depending on your skills
If you have a special skill, you'll get space for it: for example, a small sushi pop-up on two or three evenings a week, tapas, bowls, tarte flambée – anything that suits a bar and can be prepared well in small quantities.
You suggest we plan the map, shopping, and prices together.
WHAT YOU BRING
Experience in a kitchen – as a kitchen assistant, kitchen helper, junior cook, or breakfast cook. Formal culinary training is a plus, but not required.
You work cleanly, in a structured manner and independently – in the mornings you are often alone in the kitchen.
Hygiene awareness (HACCP) and an eye for freshness and details
Reliability: Breakfast is ready at 7:30 am, every day.
A plus, but not a must: Sushi, tapas, or another specialty that you are sure and happy to make in small quantities.
Team spirit and flexibility – we are a small team, everyone pitches in sometimes.
Good English or good German – you'll need one of them to coordinate with the bar team. Both are ideal.
How you work is more important to us than what diploma is hanging on your wall.
WORKING HOURS, TO BE HONEST
40 hours per week, 5 days a week, with two days off. It's a split position: breakfast preparation in the morning starting around 6:30 a.m., followed by a long break, and preparations for the evening in the afternoon. Whoever is running the pop-up is behind the bar on those evenings. Christmas and New Year's are our busiest weeks – the whole team is on duty. In February, our busiest month, we sometimes have a sixth workday; these hours are compensated according to the collective agreement or given as time off in lieu.
YOUR PACKAGE
Basic salary
Starting at EUR 2,250 gross per month. Above collective agreement – not just a willingness to overpay, but a genuine overpayment from day one.
Performance bonus
Quarterly bonus based on clear criteria. Good work = more money.
Tip
Fair distribution within the team, tax-free.
13th and 14th salary
Holiday and Christmas bonuses in accordance with the Austrian collective agreement.
Free apartment
Dedicated staff accommodation directly in Bad Gastein. No shared apartments, no maybes. Your own apartment, free of charge.
Coffee & Drinks
Coffee and soft drinks are always free on the premises.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A kitchen that belongs to you
In the morning you are the boss in the kitchen, in the afternoon you prepare for the evening – without a brigade, without hierarchy.
Space for your idea
Sushi, tapas, bowls: If you're good at something, it gets a regular evening on the menu.
A warm and welcoming team
You work in a personal environment where friendly and respectful interaction is valued.
A workplace with character
Not an anonymous hotel restaurant, but a café-bistro with personality, quality and real hosts.
KEY DATA
Start: December 2026
Season: Until mid-April 2027
Contract: Fixed-term seasonal contract, full-time
Working hours: Split shift – early (from approx. 6:30 am) and afternoon
Work location: JOLIE, Residenz Boutique Suites, Bad Gastein
From the first croissant to the last sandwich: you make sure we never lack anything.
The mountain is calling. And so are we.
Send your application to info@bensimon.at. Please briefly mention which kitchens you have worked in, whether you have a specialty (sushi? tapas? something else?) and when you are available – that way we can both save ourselves a round of follow-up questions.
