Description

The Assistant Corporate Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager and is responsible for assisting in managing and overseeing the daily operations for the corporate accounting team of the accounting department, which includes the supervision of staff accountants and off-site consultants, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, reviewing financial reports or statements for accuracy. The Assistant Corporate Accounting Manager will assist in enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and procedures as well as training staff accountants.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook. Yardi Systems experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate multiple requests while providing excellent customer service.
  • Proven abilities to handle multi-tasking responsibilities, while handling the demands of multiple staff members.
  • Maintain work pace appropriate to given workload.
  • Able to perform complex or various tasks.
  • Strong data analytical skills and ability to handle large data.
  • Relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Be a team player.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Have Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
  • Have some real estate accounting or corporate accounting background.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Operate computer and office equipment.
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in supervision of staff accountants and off-site consultants.
  • Coordinate staff training including software, hardware and accounting related to property management and construction.
  • Review and approve Journal Entries to ensure that all transactions are properly recorded per current policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Handle various allocations across properties and corporate departments.
  • Assist with the accounting of various corporate lines of business.
  • Ensure that month and year-end closing and reporting packages for their assigned entities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist, as necessary, in the training of site personnel with respect to the recording of financial entries and data.
  • Maintain cash control for their assigned entities by reviewing and approving monthly bank reconciliations of all bank accounts and ensuring that all cash transactions are recorded properly.
  • Be familiar with all of the terms of the agreements with third parties regarding financial and compliance issues and the related deadlines, which must be met.
  • Preparation of special reports and/or billings required by management or third-party entities.
  • Assist in preparing and updating all necessary audit schedules and providing any required assistance during the interim and final audit.
  • Review and approve annual draft and final tax returns.

  • Must adhere to the required work schedule established by the company to promote efficient operations.
  • Attend Company sponsored events that relate to the development of the team, which, from time to time, may include overnight stays at locations away from the employee’s home.
