Description The Montgomery County Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for an Assistant County Attorney in our Independence, Kansas office. Prosecution experience from 0-5 years is preferred, but candidates with additional experience are also strongly encouraged to apply. We are seeking to hire an attorney who is organized, detail-oriented and willing to be a team player. The position is ideal for an attorney that desires to obtain immediate courtroom experience and has a desire to prosecute a variety of cases. Our current prosecutors all have substantial experience and are able to serve as mentors to assist the attorney in developing additional prosecutorial skills as needed. This position could include a mixture of traffic, misdemeanor, felony and/or child in need of care cases depending on the experience level and interests of the person selected as well as the needs of the office. Qualifications Required: • Graduated from an ABA-approved law school • Licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas • Willing to relocate to southeast Kansas Salary and Benefits: The starting salary for this position with no prior experience is $90,000. For experienced attorneys, the salary would be negotiable based on experience. The benefits include insurance, KPERS, annual bar dues and annual continuing education courses.
