Description

About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on creative assistant who thrives on turning ideas into real projects. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys experimenting, building, and making — from digital design to physical prototypes. If you’re the kind of person who likes SketchUp, Illustrator, retro gaming builds, or 3D printing, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with SketchUp (including plug-ins) for modeling, layouts, and project planning
  • Use Adobe Illustrator to prepare files for fabrication, printing, or laser cutting
  • Assist with prototyping, 3D printing, and other shop projects
  • Help with hands-on builds, installs, and design experiments
  • Contribute ideas on how things should go together — and how to make them fun

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency in SketchUp (plug-ins knowledge is a big plus)
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills (file prep, vector work, layouts)
  • General maker knowledge: how parts, materials, and projects fit together
  • Interest in retro gaming, PC builds, or creative tech culture
  • A curious, resourceful, and collaborative personality
  • Bonus: experience with fabrication, electronics, or other design tools

Why Join Us

  • Work on unique, creative projects that blend design, tech, and fun
  • Opportunity to learn new tools and grow in multiple areas
  • Be part of a team that values innovation, experimentation, and creativity
  • Hands-on role where your ideas can shape the outcome

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Company events
  • Discounted or free food
  • On-site parking
  • Store discount

Application question(s):

  • You’re asked to design a small display that holds 6 collectible game cartridges. You have to model it in SketchUp, prep the cut files in Illustrator, and then make sure it can be 3D printed or fabricated. Walk us through how you’d approach it — from first sketch to finished build. What tools, plug-ins, or steps would you use?
