Plumpton College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Curriculum Manager to lead our Adult Education programmes at One Garden Brighton for Horticulture as well as our Floristry and Forestry Adult offer at the College. Join our dedicated team and play a pivotal role in designing and delivering outstanding adult learning experiences that support students’ academic, personal, and employability skills. This position requires a strong leader who can inspire staff and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
One Garden Brighton was developed by Plumpton College and opened in the Spring of 2021. The purpose of this multi-million-pound investment was to meet the skills needs of the horticulture industry and create a dedicated venue for Adults, apprentices and horticulture undergraduates to study in a real-life working environment and community garden.
Horticulture, Forestry, and Floristry make up the Colleges largest Adult Education offer at Plumpton College and this post will oversee and be accountable for, the continued growth and success of this expanding department including community projects and working with our key charitable stakeholders to continue to deliver land-based education to their service users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programme Development & Delivery: Lead the development and delivery of adult learning programmes that align with regulatory requirements and college standards.
- Staff Management: Provide line management, mentoring, and support to curriculum staff, ensuring effective performance management and development.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee programme reviews and contribute to quality improvement plans to ensure exceptional educational outcomes.
- Student Success: Monitor student progress, attendance, and engagement, and implement strategies to enhance achievement and progression.
- Collaboration: Work with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships that enrich the curriculum and promote student employability.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree or equivalent professional experience.
- A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Proven experience in teaching and assessing with a record of delivering high standards.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
- Proficiency in IT and familiarity with virtual learning environments (e.g., MS Teams).
