Compensation Range: $11,705.58 - $18,265.42 CAD Monthly
The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

We acknowledge that UBC Sauder at the Vancouver Point Grey campus is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam. We acknowledge that UBC Sauder at UBC Robson Square is situated on the traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh.
The Assistant Dean, Information Technology (IT) and Analytics is responsible for the portfolio of IT, Learning Services, Business Technology Management Office (BTMO), AI application, data-analytics management and manages the partnership agreement with UBCIT for desktop, audio visual and web support service delivery. Provides transformational vision, strategic leadership and technical domain expertise to UBC Sauder for the development, implementation and support of integrated business solutions and long-term plans related to IT and data.
The Assistant Dean develops strategies to revolutionize the way UBC Sauder fosters learning and research and operates as a transformational learning institute, in order to cultivate a unified, seamless, and enhanced environment for students, employees and faculty related to IT. The Assistant Dean aims to enhance support for UBC students, streamline user experience, introduce innovative tools, redefine operational methodologies, and enhance data reporting for strategic decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Post-graduate degree. Minimum of ten years of related experience including at least four years of leadership experience plus three years of specialized experience in the design and implementation of major computer systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline; degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience designing, developing and implementing software solutions in an information technology environment. Vendor contract negotiations and vendor management experience are an asset. Experience with UBC policies and systems is preferred.
  • Experience leading data management teams and implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools and platforms for real-time dashboards and predictive models to support decision-making.
  • Experience designing and implementing learning technologies, such as LMS, and tools around hybrid or online learning.
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze trends in edtech and assess their impact on teaching and learning.
  • Experience with evaluating and integrating emerging technology, such as AI and machine learning, towards improving operations and/or pedagogy.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with vendors, cross-functional teams and UBC Sauder stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Experience with incident, request, and change management in a large, complex environment.
  • A proven ability to effectively manage all functions within the project management life cycle.
  • Technical expertise in a highly specialized area.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security, data privacy, and the supporting business requirements and governance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to deliver effective presentations, specifically to executives and research professionals.
  • Strategic knowledge and experience working with IT products and services, such as servers, cloud data, email, portals, collaboration, web and videoconferencing tools, networks, storage solutions.
  • Experience developing business plans, communication strategies, financial strategies, project charter and other management documents.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, project management, strong problem solving and organizational abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a wide variety of professional and non-professional employees and stakeholders. Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Ability to strategically plan, analyze, implement and review variety of projects and assignments. Ability to problem solve, adapt to changing priorities and to set priorities.

    Pay: $140,467.00-$219,185.00 per year
