Job Details  Description  Job Purpose  Under the direction of the Dean of Students and Principal, the Assistant Dean of Students will work to ensure that all students show achievement gains and develop strong character in a loving and demanding environment. S/he will work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture that is aligned with the mission and core values of HOPE.   Essential Responsibilities and Competencies   Support a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment where all scholars are invested in their academic excellence and character growth and can fulfill their potential  Serve as a point person for dealing with behavioral crisis-intervention and acute behavioral issues  Act as a resource to teachers, especially as it relates to issues of discipline, relationships with students, classroom management, and school culture  Assist Dean of Students in preparation, effective creation, and implementation of individual behavior plans  Be highly visible during school hours, relentlessly ensuring the school has an exceptional school culture  Maintain space to provide interventions and support for students who need re-direction  Ensure that behavioral expectations and school culture standards are met inside and outside of the classroom  Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other key transitions throughout the day  Act as a back-up to Teachers or Teaching Assistants by implementing lessons, assessments, and character education as designed by the Lead Teacher  Participate in regular leadership team meetings  Assist the Dean of Students with a parent leadership team, enlisting volunteers and coordinating family activities  Assist Teachers, Students, and Parents in the effective implementation of individual behavior plans  Set and hold scholars accountable to extremely high academic and school-wide behavioral standards  Recognize, celebrate and reward scholar achievement and character development  Build rapport with scholars, parents, and families  Perform other duties as requested or required  Qualifications   High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s Degree preferred  At least one year of teacher experience is a plus  Experience working with youth and families in low income urban communities  Proficient with technology  Valid teaching credential or willingness to attain one preferred  Personal Qualities   Integrity, credibility, and passionate commitment to HOPE’s mission of Christ, College, and Character  Proactive and hands-on strategic thinker who enjoys tackling challenges and overcoming obstacles
