Taverham Dental Health Clinic are looking for a strong candidate to fufil the role of Assistant Dental Practice Manager/ Dental nurse.
Practice management and dental nursing experience is required. We will provide full on-the-job training to the selected candidate. This role will require 2 days per week in surgery dental nursing and 3 days per week office based (please note this may be altered).
Taverham is an eight-surgery practice fully Private practice, operating at the peak of digital dentistry. We provide a wide range of dental services, including:
- Orthodontics & Invisalign
- Smile makeovers & Cosmetic Dentistry & whitening
- Oral Surgery, Implants & Sedation
- General Dentistry
- Periodontist, Hygiene services
Purpose of the job
Carry out management duties to ensure effective running of the practice and perform such other tasks as reasonably requested by the principal and practice manager.

Employment duties include but are not limited to assisting our practice manager:

  • In the key areas of finance, personnel, health and safety, stock control and clinical governance
  • Following practice policies and procedures and monitor the staff and help them to follow policies and procedures/ keep IComply up to date
  • Promote, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with all members of the dental team
  • Liaise with the principal and Practice manager on all matters concerning finance, administration, pay and service conditions
  • Assisting current marketing lead in marketing, promoting and media management
  • Supervise staff in the practice to include the following:
  • Training
  • Punctuality
  • Uniforms and appearance
  • Pay
  • Customer service

Key management tasks

Finance

  • Assist in ensuring the efficient and effective management of the practice
  • Ensure adherence and monitor performance against the business plan
  • Maintain financial information and provide suitable audit and financial reporting systems
  • Develop and maintain suitable systems for sales and purchase ledgers and financial reconciliation
  • Produce monthly management accounts and discuss the practice performance with the principal
  • Ensure all monies are banked appropriately and ensure effective credit control methods are in place including payments of invoices and collection of outstanding debts
  • Oversee the payroll function and arrange for the timely payment of salaries and payments to all team members including performers

Administration

  • Develop and keep up-to-date all practice policies and procedures, train practice staff in their use and ensure that the relevant procedures are followed at all times and that our practice is compliant
  • Manage implementation of the practice clinical governance system
  • Develop and implement the practice marketing plan

Health and Safety, equipment maintenance

  • Perform the duties of a Health and Safety Manager and ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to appropriate health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all practice equipment is maintained and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and practice policies

Personnel

  • Assist in the appropriate HR duties in respect of recruitment and selection, induction, training, monitoring of CPD, appraisal, performance issues, pay, grievance and disciplinary issues and dismissal

Patients

  • Ensure efficient running of the patient recall system
  • Manage the practice complaints system
  • Manage and respond to patient queries
  • Ensure that patient literature is kept up-to-date including practice leaflets and the practice website
  • Arrange and attend training and practice meetings
  • Identify your own training and development needs and complete them as agreed with the principal
