JOB OVERVIEW

LA based junior/contemporary denim company is seeking an energetic Assistant Designer to collaborate with our design team. We’re looking for someone with passion and the ability to understand and act on the latest trends. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), be very organized and can effectively manage multiple projects at a time. This person will be responsible for assisting with design content and must have a great attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) & Microsoft Office required; experience with CAD software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of garment construction techniques, including patternmaking, draping, & sewing.
• Knowledge of fashion design principles, including color theory and styling.
• Familiarity with product lifecycle management processes within the fashion retail environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Collaborate with Design team to research market trends for inspiration that aligns with brand vision.
• Utilize Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, to sketch initial concepts/flats (hand drawn or Illustrator).
• Assist in the development of technical specifications for garments, ensuring accuracy in design details and measurements.
• Support the product lifecycle management process by maintaining organized records of designs & sample timelines.
• Conduct research on current fashion trends, color theory, and merchandising strategies to inform design decisions.
• Assist in fitting sessions.
• Contribute to the preparation of visual materials for presentations, including illustrations and graphic designs.
• Engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions with team members to generate innovative ideas for upcoming collections.
• Correspond with overseas factories throughout the development process & update sketches & provide feedback as needed.
• Write descriptions of new styles.
