Description:
THE POSITION
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead and deliver key governance and strategy functions for Australia’s lead management agency for the Great Barrier Reef.
Drawing on well-developed strategic thinking and planning skills, this position works closely with senior leaders to design, develop, deliver, and review key strategic governance activities and materials.
The position also provides high-quality and strategic governance advice to lead and manage the strategic approach to key governance forums.
This position is part of the section’s leadership team, works in harmony with the team and stakeholders, and provides strategic, high-level advice to the Board and senior leaders. The role supports the General Manager and Director in key governance forums.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide and lead a governance and strategy workgroup, ensuring high-performance standards and clear communication.
- Lead the development and delivery of strategic governance materials (e.g. Strategic Direction Statement, Corporate Plan, Annual Operating Plan), ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and long-term vision
- Provide high-quality and strategic governance advice to lead and manage key governance forums.
- Collaborate with peers on workforce planning, budget management, and the strategic direction of the section.
- Work harmoniously with your team and stakeholders, demonstrating positive leadership and workplace behaviours.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BRING:
- Experience in governance, corporate strategy, communication, or public sector administration.
- Proven leadership experience in managing diverse teams with competing priorities and complexity.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear, strategic advice and written guidance on complex issues.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders, building relationships, and influencing outcomes.
- A strategic mindset, able to think critically and contribute to decision-making at the highest level.
- Exceptional organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
A high level of integrity, maintaining confidentiality and trustworthiness in all professional interactions.
Desirable
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in business, governance, public administration, or related fields.
