JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Health System Operations Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial performance and operational efficiency of the Health System Operations team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer of the UT Southwestern Medical Group, this role provides strategic financial and operational leadership, drives process improvement, and ensures alignment between financial management and operational goals. Performance oversight will also be shared with the Health System Chief Operating Officer, The Assistant Director will play a critical role in budgeting, financial planning, and cost optimization to enhance overall Health System performance in collaboration with system ancillary services and other departments and locations within the Health System. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Job Duties Financial Operations Plans, organizes and evaluates the financial functions and reporting of assigned system ancillary services, and other assigned departments or Health System locations. Supervises the coordination, preparation and analysis of complex financial and operational reports, pro formas, financial statements, scorecards, metrics, benchmarks, budgets, and financial forecast across assigned system ancillary services, and other assigned departments or Health System locations. Develops and helps implement financial strategies that support Health System operational objectives and the long-term financial health of the organization. Oversees the preparation and execution of annual operational budgets for Health System Operations in collaboration with Health System and Medical Group leadership. Manages and validates information to support developing trends to assist with forecasts and management decision making within scope. Manages revenue management by monitoring reimbursement rates and review price/cost structure of service line; coordinates with Chargemaster to team to ensure Chargemaster accuracy. Manages capital project process for Health System Operations and create proformas for justifications. Act as a resource for information and initiatives related to continual improvement of KPIs and operational objectives. Remains current with and progressively learns industry trends, analytics techniques and appropriate financial systems necessary to complete essential job functions. In coordination with the GME Office, HS and Medical Group Finance, UH leadership, supports the UH GME funding model Leadership Manages and/or mentor financial and analytics staff to ensure optimal operational, financial, and analytical knowledge. Collaborates with other departments including but not limited to Hospital, Medical Group, Ambulatory, and Business Affairs Finance, Accounting, Decision Support and Analytics. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Experience 8 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, with demonstrated experience in planning, forecasting, and analysis Preferred Education Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Experience Experience working in healthcare finance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Work requires forecasting and analyzing revenue and expense reports. Work requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Work requires excellent customer service and collaboration skills. Work requires ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects.
