CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE The purpose of the Assistant Director is to perform the administrative duties of the Job and Family Services Director in their absence. JOB DUTIES Act as the director in the absence of the Job and Family Services Director: Provide direct and indirect supervision over agency personnel, activities, determine work policy, and standards of performance. Perform and oversee fiscal duties for the agency when needed. Planning and coordinating staff development and training. Recruit, interview and select potential employees and other director job-related duties while maintaining Program Administrator duties listed below. [30%] Supervises and assigns work to division supervisors. Organizes and directs the development, planning and implementation of the various services within the division’s programs, complying with State, Federal and Local laws and regulations. Implements procedures for carrying out rules, assists in policy development for programs. Reviews cases and ensures compliance with State, Federal and Local law. Oversees the negotiation of and reviews the financial contracts/memorandum of understanding. Conducts monthly staff meetings with Supervisors. Meets regarding disciplinary actions, evaluations, and training of staff. [30%] Performs public relations functions, including development of resources to inform and educate the public concerning agency services. Presents information to community groups. Represents the agency with State partners, and in the community. [30%] Prepares reports, keep statistics, prepares business letters. Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hiring of new employees. Attends seminars, meetings, and trainings. [10%] These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned. MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS Knowledge of supervisory practices, interviewing, personnel practices, training and development principles, laws, rules and regulations concerning the program, office practices and procedures, and program planning and development. Skills in written and oral communication, organization, and supervising. Ability to extract information from various sources, work with others, maintain accurate records, supervise others, complete documents, and forms, advise, and provide guidance to others, develop corrective action plans, monitor program cases, and assign work to others. MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT Bachelor’s degree required. 5 years JFS experience. 5 years supervision experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervise and manage division supervisors. Includes setting work duties, counseling and discipline staff as required. Conduct annual reviews. Handle all supervisory duties of the agency director in their absence.
