The Assistant Director of Admission, reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, is charged with supporting the School’s mission to serve “girls of adventurous intellect” who would benefit from a Brearley education. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Admission is to assist in implementing admission and enrollment management goals as determined by the Director of Enrollment Management and the Strategic Enrollment Committee. As of July 1, 2026, this is a 12-month salaried exempt position that requires occasional evening and weekend work. Responsibilities: Serving as a member of the Kindergarten Assessment Team, which screens kindergarten applicants from September through January Conducting individual assessments for applicants as needed Observing kindergarten applicants at their individual sending schools as needed and providing reports in January Representing Brearley at on- and off-campus admission events whether they be in-person or virtual; this includes fairs, outreach visits, presentations, informative webinars, and any event determined by the Director to be an important marketing opportunity for the School Assisting with planning admission events Conducting admission interviews for all divisions Serving as a member of the admission committees, which entails reading completed admission files in January Communicating clearly and professionally with all constituencies associated with The Brearley School Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a preferred One to three years of admission or enrollment management experience Elementary or secondary teaching experience is beneficial, but not mandatory Experience engaging with a customer relationship management (CRM) tool (e.g. Ravenna, Veracross, or similar systems) is beneficial, but not mandatory Fluency in another language is beneficial, but not mandatory Professional and engaging verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to modify messaging for the intended audience Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracist/antibias practice, and the ability to engage effectively with families from a wide range of backgrounds Able to handle confidential information with discretion and to use best judgement when sharing such information Intrinsically motivated, collegial, flexible, and able to maintain a sense of humor during the busiest periods of the admission season About the School: Founded in 1884, Brearley's mission has long combined outstanding academics with an insistence on a larger purpose: A passionate exchange of ideas within the School's walls that prepares girls of adventurous intellect and diverse backgrounds to put their knowledge and habits of mind to meaningful use in the wider world. Salary The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.
