JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Creative DEPARTMENT: Marketing REPORT TO: Director, Marketing REVISION DATE: 11/12/2025   SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Creative is a senior creative leader responsible for guiding the visual strategy and expression of the TOTO brand across North America. This role leads the in-house creative team—designers, content creators, production specialists, and agency partners—to produce compelling, cohesive, and premium brand experiences across all customer touchpoints. This includes digital channels, print collateral, technical documents, retail merchandising, showroom graphics, events, and video production. The ideal candidate combines exceptional creative direction and brand stewardship with robust project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. They will be instrumental in elevating TOTO’s product storytelling, enhancing the customer experience, and strengthening market differentiation in support of ambitious business growth objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CREATIVE LEADERSHIP & BRAND STEWARDSHIP * Lead the ongoing development, maintenance, and execution of TOTO’s North American brand identity system, ensuring consistency and excellence across all customer touchpoints. * Translate high-level brand strategy, product positioning, and campaign concepts into visually compelling and measurable creative assets. * Serve as the primary brand guardian, enforcing adherence to established brand standards and visual guidelines, both internally and with external partners and agencies. * Ensure that all creative output meets commercial objectives while maintaining the premium and sophisticated quality expected of the TOTO brand. TEAM & WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT * Manage, mentor, and develop the in-house creative team (currently 3 direct reports), fostering a collaborative, highly efficient, and high-performance culture. * Oversee and manage external agencies, freelancers, photographers, videographers, printers, and technical document creation/production vendors. * Establish, document, and optimize creative workflows, project intake processes, resource allocation, and production timelines to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality work.     CAMPAIGN & ASSET DEVELOPMENT * Direct the creation of fully integrated campaign materials, including digital advertisements, landing pages, email marketing visuals, catalogs, high-precision technical brochures, and comprehensive price books. * Manage the technical drafting, buildout, and ongoing accuracy of comprehensive price books, ensuring precise product specifications, pricing, and details related to drop shipments are accurately represented and consistently updated across all versions. * Lead and execute product photography, video shoots, and content production in support of new product launches and foundational brand storytelling. * Oversee the design and production of physical assets, including packaging, POP (Point of Purchase) displays, merchandising materials, and large-format trade show graphics. * Ensure all digital assets adhere to relevant accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG). CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION * Partner closely with critical internal stakeholders, including Development Engineering (DE), Product Planning (PP), Digital Marketing, Social Media, Retail Sales, Channel Sales, and Public Relations (PR) to align creative execution with strategic product and commercial priorities. * Collaborate with sales and channel teams to develop presentations, robust sales enablement materials, and channel-specific assets for wholesale, retail, and e-commerce partners. * Work collaboratively with global TOTO teams to adapt and localize international brand campaigns and visual standards appropriate for the North American market. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related creative field. * A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in brand creative development, either agency or in-house environment. * A minimum of 4 years’ experience leading, managing, and mentoring creative teams and overseeing external vendors/agency partners. * Experience in the premium/luxury goods, high-end product, lifestyle, or building materials industry is highly desirable. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES * Demonstrated expertise in concept development, brand identity system architecture, photography/video direction, print production (especially technical documents), and multi-channel campaign execution. * Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator required). * Strong working knowledge of project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Wrike, Asana). * Highly Desirable: Experience utilizing and integrating with Digital Asset Management (DAM) and Product Information Management (PIM) systems. * Exceptional aesthetic eye and ability to balance high-level design craft with tangible business objectives. * Excellent communication, visual presentation, negotiation, and executive-level stakeholder management skills. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has direct supervisory responsibilities. * Directly supervises three (3) employees within the Marketing Department. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. SUCCESS MEASURES (KPIS) The performance of the Assistant Director of Creative will be measured by the following critical metrics: 1. Brand Consistency: Achieving 100% adherence to new or updated brand guidelines and visual identity across all North American channels and campaigns. 2. Creative Impact: Quantifiable increase in creative quality, storytelling effectiveness, and positive feedback from commercial teams and business stakeholders. 3. Workflow Efficiency: Successful implementation and optimization of creative workflows, resulting in efficient resource utilization and project turnaround times. 4. Project Delivery: Consistent delivery of creative projects (assets, campaigns, technical collateral) on time and on budget. 5. Team Development: Growth and retention of direct reports through effective mentorship and performance management.
