Position Summary Understanding and embracing all cultures lies at the heart of the Lycée Français de New York's educational mission to prepare students of many origins to be citizens of culture and courage. Founded in 2015, the Cultural Centre of the Lycée Français de New York was established to bring the richness of French and Francophone cultures into classrooms. Through evening events, it also brings arts and culture to the wider Francophile community in New York City. The Assistant Director of Cultural Events reports to the Director of Cultural Events and plays a pivotal role in the management and execution of the Lycée's cultural programming and events. The Assistant Director ensures that all cultural activities enhance the educational experience of the students and align with the strategic visions of the Head of School and the Director of Cultural Events.   This position requires additional work hours as needed for school events and/or school sponsored activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Cultural Events include, but are not limited to:   ❖ Event Coordination and Management: ➢ Execute and supervise the artist-in-residence and scientists-in-residence program, ensuring the coordination with artists/scientists, administration and faculty ➢ Engage with parents and the school community to promote and support the residency program ➢ Manage day-to-day liaison with administration and faculty to organize events for the students – conferences, concerts, theater performances ➢ Oversee the auditorium schedule in collaboration with the calendar committee, balancing various priorities and reserving spaces for cultural events and artists in residence ➢ Manage logistics for visiting guests, including visa, travel and accommodation, contract negotiations, and liaison with the Business Office for invoicing/payments. ➢ Assist the Director the Cultural Center in the planning of future programming   ❖ Technical and Operational Support: ➢ Serve as the primary contact during all rehearsals and significant public events, which may require availability after hours and on weekends ➢ Coordinate with artists, managers, and technical crews to fulfill performance requirements, including equipment rentals and instrument tuning   ❖ Promotion and Communication: ➢ Develop and distribute regular updates and newsletters about cultural activities ➢ Produce promotional materials such as posters and postcards ➢ Participate in the Cultural Center’s presence on social media and update the Lycée’s website with relevant content ➢ Contribute to promote Cultural Center’s public events in the NYC area ➢ Maintain a digital inventory of recordings and other event-related resources for pedagogical, communication or promotional use ➢ Partnerships follow-up (cross-promoting, rentals…)   ❖ Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications and Skills Education/Experience * Bachelor's degree or equivalent * At least 7 year’s experience in cultural event management, preferably in international / educational environments   Skills/Abilities * Proficiency in both French and English is required, as is a deep appreciation and understanding of both cultures * Proven ability to use software tools such as Google Suite, Canva… * Keen interest in cultural events in the service of education * Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities * Excellent interpersonal / social skills with the capability to work harmoniously with diverse groups and develop a strong network of guest artists / partners * Strong organizational and planning skills, with a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving * Proficiency in event promotion and adept at using social media platforms (Facebook / Instagram)
