Overview Position Summary The Assistant Director of Dining Services supports the Director of Dining Services in overseeing daily dining operations within the community. This role helps ensure high-quality, resident-centered dining experiences while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, budgetary guidelines, and company standards. The Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in staff supervision, training, and service excellence, contributing to resident satisfaction, wellness, and overall quality of life. Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities Assist in managing daily dining service operations, including meal preparation, service, sanitation, and inventory control. Support menu planning and execution, ensuring meals meet nutritional requirements, resident preferences, and special dietary needs. Supervise, coach, and schedule dining services staff; assisting with hiring and onboarding as needed. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards. Collaborate with the community’s leadership teams to accommodate therapeutic diets and resident care plans. Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and service standards. Assist with budget management, cost controls, purchasing, and waste reduction initiatives. Address resident concerns and feedback promptly and professionally to maintain high satisfaction levels. Step in to manage operations in the absence of the Director of Dining Services. Participate in inspections, audits, and quality assurance programs. Coordinate dining services and activities with other related departments (i.e., AL, Environmental Services, Life Enrichment, etc.) and for special activities, dinners and business meetings held at the community. Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, QA studies, payroll, etc. as required. Participate in survey inspections and reviews and develop a plan of correction for dining services findings noted during survey inspections. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates. Position Requirements Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Culinary Degree preferred Licenses/Certifications: State Food Service Sanitation License/Certification required; State Dietary Manager certification/license preferred Experience: 2+ years of food service management experience required; preferably in the senior living industry Skills & Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Resident-focused service mindset Time management and problem-solving skills Min USD $0.00/Yr.
