Description
The Engineering Manager receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for functional programs. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. Under the general direction and guidance of the Facilities Director, the Assistant Director- Design Engineering will lead a team of professional engineers. H/She will lead the effort of providing: engineering peer reviews for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil designs, consulting services to other Facilities Services units, other department in UCSF and assigned UCSF contractors and sub-contractors.  H/She will coordinate and evaluate requested installations, maintenance, modification, system overhaul, service and repair of mechanical / plumbing systems, assist in monitoring and evaluating energy and utility consumption and provide the required recommendation to meet the department’s energy efficiency goals as well as establish benchmark for new and existing buildings using industry best practice standards.

They are responsible for monitoring energy consumption, ensuring compliance with building codes, and managing resources to meet departmental goals.
