The Assistant Director of Finance works closely with the Director of Finance, General Manager and corporate office to maintain fiscal integrity, optimize financial performance, and support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Financial Reporting and Analysis Perform and/or assist with month-end closing. Participate in monthly P&L critique and asset inventories. Assist in preparing and producing financial statements for management and corporate review within designated time frames. Analyze and reconcile all general ledger and bank accounts to ensure accuracy. Prepare and/or assist with annual budgets, forecasts, taxes, and other financial reports. Assist in annual audits and corporate requests. Balance Sheet Reconciliation Assist Director of Finance with the Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts each period. Review any problem accounts with Director of Finance and adjust entries to the general ledger. Operational Management Supervise daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations. Verify credit cards are processed every night-by-night audit and reconcile in full. Effectively schedule, monitor, and evaluate controllable departmental expenditures to stay within the restraints of the established budget through: labor management and purchasing control systems. Manage full account payable cycle. Oversee accounts receivable and ensuring credit policies are followed. Team Leadership and Support Assist in training and developing of hotel teams concerning accounting functions. Communicate financial topics clearly and provide guidance to other departments. Alert management to potentially serious financial issues. Other Responsibilities All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by leadership. Experience Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role; luxury or upper-upscale hotel experience strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of hotel accounting systems and financial platforms (e.g., Opera, Paycom, M3, Birch Street, or similar), with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge/Skills Thorough understanding of hotel financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and month-end close. Demonstrated experience supporting audits, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and brand or ownership reporting requirements. Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable insights to senior leadership. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively partner with operational leaders across departments. High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing business needs. Experience supporting luxury service standards while maintaining fiscal discipline and operational efficiency. Physical Requirements Able to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
