W Edinburgh is hiring an Assistant Director of Finance to join the team! We invite you to play an integral part in bringing to life this unique brand within Edinburgh and join this fast paced operation.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance at W Edinburgh will manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance team within the hotel. Your primary duties will include financial analysis and financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital and cash control
Joining the team means you will be instrumental to the success of the hotel. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, diligent and passionate!

As Assistant Director of Finance, key aspects of your role will include:

  • Be a W brand ambassador, ensuring the brand’s voice is present in your interactions with guests and talent
  • Manage all aspects of the team, including payroll, training, recruitment, performance and discipline
  • Ensure that regular on-going communication occurs with employees to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations, and recognize performance
  • Advocate sound financial and business decision making
  • Work in collaboration with all heads of departments to ensure a successful hotel opening and beyond
  • Oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes
  • Generate and provide accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
  • Ensure that the P&L is accurate (i.e., costs are properly matched to revenue, costs are recorded in the proper accounts) and statements are delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner
  • Reconcile balance sheet
  • Ensure tax rates used for sales/use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued
  • Ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures (SOPs and LSOPs)
  • Ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs
  • Review audit issues and make corrections as necessary
  • Ensure property permits, licenses and if applicable vendor contracts are current
  • Leverage centralized accounting processes and shared services
