Job Description Summary The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join our Accounting Management team. This role is integral to maintaining the hotel’s financial excellence and supporting the Director of Finance in overseeing all accounting operations. As a key financial leader, the Assistant Director of Finance ensures the integrity of all hotel financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, income audit, cash controls, and general ledger management. You will partner closely with department heads across the hotel, providing timely financial insights and fostering strong cross‑functional teamwork. This role also supports and manages payroll, budgeting, forecasting, month‑end reconciliation, and the implementation of effective financial controls aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements. This position requires a collaborative leader with strong payroll expertise, a commitment to accuracy, and a proven ability to support a high‑performing team within a luxury hospitality environment. The position requires experience operating within a unionized environment and the ability to interpret and apply Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) language as it relates to payroll rates and compensation administration. Responsibilities include reviewing contract provisions governing wage scales, progression schedules, premiums, overtime, and special pay categories to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with negotiated agreement Key Responsibilities • Lead daily accounting operations with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with WSIB ,ESA, Wage & Hour, and internal standards. • Provide meaningful financial analysis, variance reporting, and forecasting support to leadership. • Maintain robust financial controls, audit readiness, and proper record‑retention practices. • Coach, mentor, and support accounting team members to ensure strong performance and teamwork. • Collaborate with hotel leadership, vendors, auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies. • Support operational departments by delivering clear financial insights and reporting tools. • Serve as Manager on Duty and approve purchases as required. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • Minimum 2+ years of hotel accounting or audit experience with leadership responsibilities. • Strong knowledge of hotel payroll functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. • Excellent communication, critical thinking, interpersonal and team building skills, and organizational skills. • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
