POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Marketing + Communications
REPORTS TO: Director of Comms
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Hybrid (at least 2-3 days per week)

SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Marketing + Communications plays a pivotal role in bringing our brand to life and advancing the mission of the organization by leading the marketing and communications teams. This position is responsible for the execution of day-to-day marketing operations while aligning all initiatives with strategic priorities. Key areas of responsibility include brand management, content strategy, project oversight, internal and external communications, event support, analytics, and team leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that increase awareness and engagement.
  • Align branding and messaging across marketing, communications, and social channels.
  • Oversee content creation and execution across all platforms to ensure brand consistency.
  • Maintain and optimize user journeys across organizational touchpoints.
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day direct mail + email campaigns in partnership with RKD.
  • Supervise and support the day-to-day functions of the marketing and communications team.
  • Review and proof marketing and communication content across platforms to maintain clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice.
  • Ensure execution of both strategic and tactical marketing deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, curious, and efficient team culture.
  • Lead internal processes and establish protocols for team operations and project flow.
  • Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for marketing projects.
  • Track and report on team performance using data and analytics.
  • Manage website content, performance, and updates; lead SEO and optimization efforts.
  • Use data insights to improve user experience and increase website engagement.
  • Oversee the use of Salesforce Marketing Cloud for communications and campaign management.
  • Lead development and implementation of email communications and newsletters.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, audience behavior, and marketing KPIs. Provide actionable insights to optimize efforts.
  • Oversee planning and logistics for events, sponsorships, and brand activations.
  • Support cross-department collaboration by ensuring consistent and effective communication.
  • Utilize Google Analytics, CRM, and other tools to assess marketing effectiveness.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience (4–6 years) in a similar role is considered.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Asana, and WordPress.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools, event strategy, and merchandise branding.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with branding, messaging, content creation, and campaign strategy.
  • Proven project management skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of audience segmentation and user experience design.
  • Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and a passion for storytelling.
  • Experience leading a team and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Must possess reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout the Tampa area (about 10%).
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings based on event needs.
