POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications plays a vital strategic and operational role in planning, executing, and analyzing marketing and communications campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Membership and Marketing, this position is responsible for ensuring that all messaging across platforms is clear, consistent, and aligned with the organization’s brand and goals.
This role leads the coordination of multi-channel marketing efforts to engage a variety of audiences-including members, prospective members, partners, and the public-while driving maximum ROI. Additionally, the Assistant Director serves as a mentor and leader within the marketing and communications team, supporting junior staff as needed.
In certain campaigns or Club happenings, this role will take the lead on public relations and media management, including drafting press materials, coordinating with media outlets, and supporting the organization’s public image through timely and strategic communication.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Director of Membership and Marketing to design, plan, and execute strategic, data-informed marketing and communications strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Manage and synchronize messaging across all platforms-including email, website, social media, print, and video-to ensure brand consistency, alignment, and impact.
  • Develop and implement targeted campaigns for diverse audiences (members, prospects, partners, etc.), ensuring message consistency and effective segmentation.
  • Analyze performance metrics of marketing initiatives, providing actionable insights and recommendations to enhance strategy, increase ROI, and guide future decisions.
  • Provide situational support for public relations efforts, including drafting press releases, managing media outreach, and responding to press inquiries during key campaigns or initiatives.
  • Assist in managing all aspects of content development-copywriting, editing, and visual collaboration-for digital, print, email, video, and social media channels.
  • Oversee visual branding and coordinate with designers and vendors to ensure brand integrity across all deliverables.
  • Contribute to and maintain the organization’s master marketing calendar to ensure alignment of priorities, adherence to deadlines, and execution of campaign milestones.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members (e.g., marketing coordinators, specialists, interns), fostering professional development and ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Serve as a cross-functional partner, collaborating with internal teams to ensure marketing efforts support broader organizational objectives, including membership engagement.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to marketing and communications, including creative agencies, designers, printers, and advertising partners.
  • Stay current on marketing industry trends, tools, and best practices; recommend and implement innovative strategies and emerging technologies to improve marketing effectiveness.
