JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Nursing/Quality Coordinator (ADON/QC) is instrumental in guiding the Nursing Services department through planning, organization, staffing, and direction to deliver the highest quality, evidence-based patient care while ensuring strict compliance with all laws, regulations, and accreditation standards; reporting to the Director of Nursing, this leader actively advances clinic and departmental quality initiatives by assessing and analyzing operations and recommending timely improvements to maintain accreditation and regulatory excellence. The ADON/QC works closely with other PUSH departments to champion a culture of safe, effective, and patient-centered care, serving as a subject matter expert on AAAHC accreditation standards and as a trusted resource for department managers by guiding them in quality improvement activities that drive continuous organizational excellence. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart AssociationFive (5) years of nursing experience with skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties as assigned to this position

  • Preferred:
    Three (3) years of nursing supervisor and quality improvement experience

SKILLS:

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within the area of nursing expertise
  • Ability to provide operational quality improvement guidance to all PUSH staff
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • Analytical reasoning to interpret and take action on quality initiative data
  • Experience in project management, and departmental leadership
  • Experience with IT communications (Purdue computing environment systems experience, Electronic Health Records, and auditing)
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning quality improvement standards Participate in committee work (Health Center and University-wide) as appropriate
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • Ability to perform complex tasks independently with minimal supervision.
