Job Details Job Location: Schofield Residence - Kenmore, NY Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $90000.00 - $100000.00 Salary/year Job Shift: Day Description General Summary: The Assistant Director of Nursing and Resident Care Services is responsible for coordination and administration of health care services to all residents of the Schofield Residence under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Resident Care Services. Job Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Director of nursing is supervised by the Director of Nursing. The job duties and responsibilities are to be performed while observing the following standards: job standard (knowledge, ability, skills), technical skill, quality, quantity, judgement/problem solving, decision making, and initiative. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Nursing Assist in developing and maintaining health care procedures and manuals in conjunction with the Director. Interview and assess residents applying to the facility in conjunction with the Director. Supervise documentation in the resident records. Make periodic (B.I.D.) rounds of all units with the appropriate supervisors. Provide coverage for medications/treatments/emergencies for the Adult Day Health Care Program in the absence of the Program Director. Attend appropriate committee meetings including, but not limited to, medical staff, Quality Assessment and Assurance, resident care plan review, etc. Assist with nursing Quality Assessment and Assurance Program. Complete routine (B.I.D.) resident care audits. Become a P.R.I. auditor. Assume duties of Director of Nursing and Resident Care Services in her absence. Keep daily report of residents with acute illness or unusual incidents. Ensure monthly follow through of pharmacy consultant recommendations and submits completed corrections to Director of Nursing within ten (10) days. Review all resident accident/incident reports for completeness, appropriate steps to prevent reoccurrence, follow through and review for reportable incidents. Personnel Supervise orientation and development of all nursing personnel. Set up an ongoing evaluation program. Assign staff to be reviewed by their respective supervisor. Evaluate all RN's/LPN’s within the department in conjunction with the Director. Supervise the Infection Control Nurse, in the Director’s absence. Meet at least monthly with supervisors to review nursing policies and procedures and their implementation, along with facility needs or problems. Work closely with the Inservice Coordinator in arranging clinical experiences for RN’s and LPN’s. Provide clinical support to nurses in the facility. Assure current registration for all licensed personnel in the Nursing Department. Implement progressive discipline in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Resident Care Services. Identify staffing needs and appropriate level of skill required to meet those needs. Routinely communicate needs to Human Resources. Participate in the selection of department personnel. Ensure staff proficiency by conducting audits on performance routinely. Assign audit schedule to respective supervisors. Assure timely completion. Process employee grievances in conjunction with Human Resources Manager. Review all employee accident/incident reports to ensure implementation of steps to prevent reoccurrence. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Interest in developing nursing and management abilities and furthering education in these areas through membership in professional organizations and/or participation in workshops and seminars. Experience - Previous experience as a supervisor or charge nurse in long term care and familiarity with wound care practices and protocol. Character - Must possess good moral character, compassion for the elderly, have ability to manage licensed and allied nursing personnel, and create/maintain good staff relationships; must maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Interpersonal skills - must possess the ability to communicate in a calm, non-threatening manner with residents, families, volunteers multidisciplinary team and co-workers.
