This position has on-call responsibilities on a rotation. This position will require hours outside of typical business hours. Sign-On Bonus Tuition Repayment Program Position Summary: The primary function of this position is to assist the Director of Nursing Services in development, organization and direction of all aspects of nursing services and related ancillary activities in compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines, standards, and, as directed by the Administrator so as to ensure that each resident receives quality/individualized care and services consistent with their medical psychosocial and spiritual needs and wishes. Duties & Responsibilities: General: 75% Assists the Director of Nursing Services in developing and establishing policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of nursing service objectives. Reviews, revises and implements new policies and procedures. Reviews compliance with established policies and procedures by all nursing personnel and other related ancillary activities. Effectively communicates all relevant policies and procedures to all applicable staff. Monitors and supervises all facility staff for compliance with all applicable staff. Reviews the competency of all nursing personnel. Assists in conducting scheduled department meetings. Interviews, hires, trains and orients new nursing personnel and initiates various related personnel functions such as evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, etc. Assures adequate staffing is maintained so as to meet the needs of each resident on a continuum. Works floor/shift assignments as necessary and/or directed. Assists in maintaining departmental budgets in compliance with established parameters. Assesses supplies and equipment needs and assists in assuring an adequate amount of inventory is maintained so as to meet the needs of the residents on a continuum. Assists subordinate positions in rendering care and services. Answers resident call bells as required and/or directed. Assists in ensuring that ancillary services such as dietary, activities, rehabilitation, etc., are provided conducive to meeting the medical and psychosocial needs of the residents on a continuum. Serves as Director of Nursing Services in the absences of the Director of Nursing Services Administrative: 25% Actively participates in overall facility management and is thus cooperative with co-workers and peers. Participates on the Quality Assurance committee and other sub-committees as required and/or directed. Prepares various reports and statistical analysis as directed. Keeps apprised of new information in the field by attending seminars, affiliation meetings, reading related literature or as directed by the Director of Nursing Services. Assists in assuring that all nursing personnel receive appropriate in-servicing and education so as to meet regulatory requirements and staff needs. Miscellaneous/Other: (Exhibited 100%) Assumes all other duties as assigned. Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times. Works within a team concept and thus cooperative with the co-workers and peers. Maintains confidentiality of information. Represents the facility in a positive manner. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of nursing and possess a current license as a Registered nurse, valid in the state in which practicing. Minimum of three years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or health care setting. One (1) year experience in long term care setting Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to follow oral and written direction.
