Description
Responsibilities

Bury is a proud and prosperous borough, home to thriving regeneration and growth opportunities, new housing developments and a key partner in the Northern Gateway development. Our ‘LET’s Do IT’ strategy defines both our vision and our outlook, to proactively achieve and deliver for our communities, residents and businesses. This key, Assistant Director of Place Operations, role is at the heart of creating a borough that is clean and green, leading investment in highways, transport connectivity and active travel to empower people to access employment, education and cultural opportunities, unlocking new development sites and enabling the borough to achieve its sustainability ambitions.
With a background in engineering or highways, we are looking for someone who can lead across the entirety of place-based services including street scene, waste and environment, working across a large workforce and engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders. You will have a track record of transformation, able to lead the team on a journey of continuous improvement, empowering colleagues and developing a one team approach focused on delivering for our residents. Partnership working within the council and externally will be crucially, particularly with our Greater Manchester partners including the Combined Authority, and with other agencies. Most importantly, you will recognise that place services do not operate in isolation but are an essential part of ensuring Bury is a clean, safe and welcome place, empowering residents to live well and thrive, and attract investment into our growing local economy. This is a great opportunity where your impact will be tangible, making a difference to our borough every day.
