Position Information Title: Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing Division: Student Affairs Division Department: Residence Life & Housing Exempt Full Time EAM ________(HR to fill out) II. Position Summary The role of the Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing has significant  responsibility for being the departmental lead for overall operations and residence hall  facility management; adding to a robust living experience through use of marketing,  technology, amenities, and assessments; and administering a centralized summer  housing/conference services process for community as well as guests of Chaminade  University. The Assistant Director works cooperatively with all Residence Life & Housing  staff in support and implementation of the University mission and actively collaborates  with a variety of campus partners to achieve common goals towards the enrollment and  retention of students. III. Reports to: Direct Report to: Director of Residence Life & Housing IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Housing Operations & Administrative Management • Serve as primary administrator of housing assignments, occupancy management, and  related databases (eRezLife, Colleague, etc.). • Manage housing applications, deposits, assignments, roommate pairings, meal plans,  parking assignments, room changes, and occupancy records for all university academic  terms. • Maintain housing records, emergency contact information, housing agreements, rosters,  room lists, and approved accommodations. • Coordinate residence hall openings, closings, inspections, inventory processes, damage  billing, and key management. • Generate reports, occupancy projections, and financial analyses. • Coordinate with the Business Office, IT, Facilities, Dining Services, and other campus  partners to support housing operations. • Assist with budget management, departmental assessment, surveys, and reporting. • Oversee summer housing and conference housing operations, including scheduling,  billing, and staffing. • Provide operational support to front desk staff, including participation in office opening  and closing responsibilities. Student Support, Community Development & Resident Engagement • Communicate with students in a timely manner regarding housing applications,  assignments, room changes, and residential policies. • Respond to inquiries from students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators. • Provide student support, mediate conflicts, and make appropriate referrals for personal,  behavioral, and wellness concerns. • Serve as advisor to the Residence Hall Association and promote student involvement. • Send regular communications to residents, as needed, and solicit resident feedback. • Assist with efforts to maximize occupancy in the residence halls by coordinating  marketing efforts, monitoring the application and assignments process, and providing  quality services and operations to students that enhance the residential experience. • Support the department's mission, values, and community-building efforts, with  emphasis on the departmental motto – “Aloha Lives Here". • Serve as a secondary member of the university Care Team. Leadership, Facilities Oversight & Emergency Response • Assist the Director in supervising, recruiting, selecting, training, and supporting  Residence Life staff. • Oversee day-to-day residential facility management and assist in supporting daily  Residence Life operations. • Coordinate maintenance, cleaning, renovation projects, safety inspections, and vendor  services. • Participate in strategic planning, policy development, assessment initiatives, and  implementation of departmental goals. • Utilize quantitative and qualitative metrics to guide departmental decisions and measure progress. • Maintain collaborative relationships with campus stakeholders and external housing  professionals. • Serve in the 24-hour on-call rotation and respond to emergency and non-emergency  incidents. • Assist with crisis management, emergency preparedness, severe weather response,  move-in/move-out operations, and other special events. • Attend professional development training, serve on university committees, and  represent the department in campus-wide initiatives.
