Description Assistant Director of Retail Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Retail plays a major role in the day-to-day retail operations for the Golf Shop. Supports the Director of Retail in the overall management of the Retail Operation. Pivotal in executing merchandising strategies, managing inventory, and providing an exceptional shopping experience for members and their guests. Reports to: Director of Retail Key Responsibilities: · Work closely with the Director of retail on vendor selection, product offerings, and buying decisions for the Golf Shop · Assist in the management of special orders, including placing orders with vendors, receiving invoices, billing members, and notifying them when orders arrive or are delayed · Ensure all invoices assigned by the Director of Retail are processed and submitted promptly · Review monthly vendor statements, ensuring all invoices have been received properly. Work with the Business Office to reconcile any missed invoices · Complete the Golf Shop Sales Report and communicate the results to the Director of Golf on a weekly basis · Work closely with the Director of Retail on maintaining consistent member pricing for merchandise in the Golf Shop · Assist in conducting timely and accurate monthly inventory counts, including organizing, counting, recording, and reporting results to the Business Office · Assist in maintaining an attractive and orderly appearance of merchandise in the Golf Shop, meeting the needs and expectations of the membership · Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient storage room · Assist the Director of Retail with ordering gifts for all major events including tournaments, outings, and corporate events · Regularly attend vendor meetings with the Director of Retail · Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential vendors and sales representatives · Develop in-depth product knowledge of each brand offered, ensuring that members receive the highest level of assistance when making their selection · Assist in the planning and execution of promotions, trunk shows, and other merchandise events for the Golf Shop · Create visually appealing merchandise displays that enhance the membership shopping experience. · Track merchandise performance, including identifying slow-moving items. Suggest and implement promotional or markdown strategies to optimize sales · Closely monitor inventory needs, preventing overstocking and understocking. Communicate reordering to the Director of Retail, ensuring timely replenishment of inventory · Assist the Director of Retail in creating seasonal buying budgets. Adjust the buying strategy based on sales performance and membership feedback · Attend the January PGA Show with the Director of Retail, Head Golf Professional, and Director of Golf · Along with the Director of Retail, attend other trade shows, conferences, and industry events to stay current on market trends, emerging products, and buying strategies Qualifications: · Minimum 2 years merchandising experience required · 4-year college degree preferred · Ability to work well with a team and take initiative in problem solving and decision making · Previous experience with designing engaging merchandise displays · Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written · Must have strong organizational skills, work ethic, and dedication to meeting or exceeding expectations · Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment · Able to maintain a high level of attention to detail Other Skills: · Experience with RPOS software NorthStar is desirable, but not required · Knowledge of the game of golf and golf equipment · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) -Competitive pay based on experience – $24-$26 hourly
