Assistant Director of Studies for EF Perth
EF is a NEAS accredited internationally recognised institution, with schools located all over the world. EF International Language Campus Perth is located in the middle of the CBD, just minutes from the train station and shops and restaurants, with a friendly and motivated team and an exciting, energised atmosphere.
The main role of the Assistant Director of Studies (ADoS) is to help the Director of Studies (DoS) manage the academic department and implement course programs to ensure student satisfaction. The role calls for flexibility, organisational skills, and the desire to keep on top of new teaching methodologies and initiatives, particularly pertaining to technology. Specific duties include:

REQUIREMENTS

  • CELTA qualified or equivalent; undergraduate degree or equivalent, or working towards TEFLQ status
  • Experience in management of people and programs preferred
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate both staff and students
  • Strong customer-service focus with a commitment to the highest possible standards
  • A strategic thinker and planner, able to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent communicator, with ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Resourceful
  • Working to deadlines whilst remaining flexible at all times
  • Able to handle difficult situations with ease and remain calm under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Commitment to the academic success and broader success of our students and our school
  • Ability to adapt in a fast paced, exciting work environment; positive attitude
  • A strong sense of ownership and the drive to succeed
  • Experience with teenagers and young adults an advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Help to recruit, induct, observe and develop new teaching staff with the appropriate experience and qualifications.
  • Help to provide ongoing professional development programs for teachers e.g. training, observations, leading meetings etc.
  • Manage staff workload allocation including timetable planning and student allocation
  • Maintain and develop teaching tools and resources
  • Teaching, depending on time of year – including cover and taking over own cycles and classes
  • Attend and sometimes lead regular teachers’ meeting.
  • Ensure that EF standards and expectations are met and exceeded on a daily basis
  • Have a positive impact on the student experience at all times, including class allocation according to level, age and nationality and producing timely, appropriate feedback and reports and cross-departmental cooperation and collaboration to support academic infusion across activities.
  • Managing student queries or concerns in a professional, caring and enthusiastic manner.
  • Providing a supportive and professional academic support service to all students
