JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of University Housing Operations is a live on position responsible for the general oversight of all Housing facility operations, assistance with occupancy management, and budget development. The Assistant Director position will work in conjunction with the Director of University Housing and the Associate Director of Housing to ensure the effective implementation and evaluation of residential facilities, budgets, and procedures. Direct supervision of a Maintenance Operation Supervisor and Custodial Foreman, indirect supervision of maintenance and custodial classified staff and student employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

o Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of six years combined education, training, and experience may be considered. Four years of the six must be in a higher education in a residential housing setting.
o Two years of experience using StarRez Housing software.
o Two years of experience supervising maintenance and/or custodial employees in a university residential setting.
o Two years of experience working with vendors to gather bids, quotes, and schedule work within a university setting.
o Experience in facility assessment practices for residential complexes.
o Experience with managing inventory for custodial and/or maintenance operations for a university residential operation.
o Experience in using computer software such as spreadsheets, databases, and/or Microsoft products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Experience with budget planning and/or management.
o Experience responding to on-call crisis or emergency situations related to facility operations.
Additional Information

Salary will be between $68,000 to $72,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Responsibilities
  1. Maintain an on-going assessment of all Housing operations programs including summer operations. Work with Custodial and Maintenance teams to address all efforts in Housing facilities, assist in identifying facility needs and developing long-term planning. (30%)
  2. Inspect residential areas and observe employee performance to insure conformity with standards and practices. Correct deviations through the appropriate supervisory staff. Oversee the coordination of custodial practices and preventive maintenance programs. (15%)
  3. Serve as a participant in scheduled on-call/duty responsibilities. (10%)
  4. Serve as liaison for Department of Public Works, Facilities, and other campus and state partners. Manage and facilitate purchasing practices including quotes, contacts, scheduling, etc with 3rd party contractors. (10%)
  5. Facilitate administration processes (work orders, room closures, assignments, inventory tracking, etc) in Housing software (StarRez). (15%)
  6. Assessment of all Housing facilities. Work with Maintenance and Custodial teams to address and repair/replace any physical damages, identify facility needs and develop long-term renovation plans with the Director. (10%)
  7. Assist with the assignments, occupancy management, check-in and check-out processes for housing daily operations. (10%)
