DESCRIPTION:
University Family Housing is comprised of two 21 story residential towers and a unique stock of 83-century homes. The department provides housing to student families, faculty families and long-term residential tenancies in two neighbourhoods on the St. George Campus to over 3000 adults and children.
Under the direction of the Director, University Family Housing, the Assistant Director, University Family Housing is responsible for assisting the Director with ensuring the strategic direction for residence life programs. This includes residence life program planning, development, implementation, evaluation and assessment to enrich the quality of the residents’ life within University Family Housing. The Assistant Director assists with long-range program planning and implementation strategies. The incumbent must make considerations for accessibility, equity and inclusion throughout all aspects of programming while ensuring these programs embody the university’s values.
The Assistant Director, University Family Housing also assists the Director with tenant relations and monitors procedural fairness of departmental intervention of tenant behavior while overseeing the administration of the Community Standards. The incumbent may also attend and/or chair community relations meeting as required. The incumbent will also assist the Director with bringing applications to and representing the University at the Ontario Landlord Tenant Board, which can include escalated tenant disputes, above- guideline rent increase applications and evictions.
The Assistant Director supports the Director in ensuring the financial success of University Family Housing, including strategic planning; the optimization of ancillary revenue streams; providing input into long and short-range planning; and for fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement to ensure that residents’ needs are met.
