Description Working at The Preservation Society of Newport County (PSNC) offers you the opportunity to work for an organization that preserves, protects and presents 13 historic properties and landscapes in Newport, Rhode Island. As part of the team, you have an opportunity to help preserve and maintain cultural and historical treasures of Newport, Rhode Island. The Assistant Warehouse Team Leader will be responsible for oversight of the priorities and staff on the warehouse floor and distribution center. Under the direction of the Distribution Center Team Leader, this person will prioritize the shipments arriving and leaving the warehouse and interface with team members to maintain quality control and ticketing standards. Core hours fall within Monday through Friday between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 30 hours per week. Occasional weekend hours during special events or evenings. The work location is the Distribution Center/Warehouse. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Under the direction of the Distribution Center Team Leader, prioritize shipments coming into and out of the warehouse. Ensures orders are pulled and packed by team members. Works closely with warehouse staff and volunteers to ensure all processes and paperwork are completed accurately. Works closely with staff and volunteers for training and scheduling. Under the direction of the Distribution Center Team Leader, creates and manages the placement of merchandise within the warehouse. Connects with the Distribution Center Team Leader to coordinate delivery schedule to the stores, follows up with the Distribution Center driver and staff. Operates the 14-16ft lift gate truck as needed for delivery of product. May assist driver with deliveries on days when there are large or heavy deliveries to the stores. Assists Retail Operations Manager with proper product distribution to complete merchandising goals. Works with store managers to meet the needs of orders and deliveries. Participate in physical inventory counts. Assist shipping and receiving (as needed) unloading trucks. Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the warehouse work and storage areas, keep warehouse and work area organized at all times. May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed. Follow prescribed safety and health rules, regulations, and practices. Perform other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to consistently arrive at work on time and ready to begin duties. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, usually 40-45 minutes per hour and lift up to 50+ lbs. occasionally. Ability to climb ladders and reach. Ability to bend, squat and twist. The work environment is that of a warehouse, with varying degrees of temperature, receiving orders with open bays to the weather. The work is hands-on in nature. Noise level is moderate. Requirements High School Degree or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of warehouse experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office & Outlook with demonstrated technology competency Possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to operate a 14-16ft lift gate truck. Strong written, verbal communication and organiza tional skills. Ability to maintain perspective and balance; able to multitask and establish priorities. Maintain a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
