Assistant Editor
DERMASCOPE Magazine – Dallas, TX (Hybrid/On-site)
DERMASCOPE Magazine, the longest-running professional skin care trade journal in the United States, is seeking an Assistant Editor to join our editorial team. This position supports the managing editor in producing our monthly print magazine, digital platforms, and social media channels. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and an interest in the aesthetics and spa industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the managing editor to research, plan, and produce editorial content
- Write and edit in-house features for print and digital
- Proofread, fact-check, and format content to maintain editorial standards
- Assist in selecting supporting materials such as images and illustrations
- Build and send e-blasts; update website content as needed
- Create and schedule social media content (static graphics, reels, stories); maintain calendar
- Coordinate with contributors, press, and internal teams (sales, design, marketing) to meet deadlines
- Provide administrative and production support, including ad bookings, press responses, phones, and updating tracking sheets
- Contribute ideas for new sections, digital features, and audience engagement initiatives
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of editorial or publishing experience preferred
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with publishing/design tools (InDesign, Canva, Photoshop) a plus
- Familiarity with social media platforms (especially Instagram) and scheduling tools
- Knowledge of SEO and digital publishing best practices
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
