JOB SUMMARY

The Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader is seeking a talented part-time assistant editor. We’re a legacy newspaper that occupies the same building it has for more than a century that has experienced a 20% increase in circulation year-over-year. Our dedicated team values traditional, standards-based journalism and is committed to fostering a collaborative, creative environment as we expand our offerings in 2025. We’re a weekly newspaper that operates as a daily one day a week. That helps to keep the newspaper fresh for committed readers who aren’t afraid to let us know if they don’t like something.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled wordsmith used to deadlines but nimble enough to handle content for our other products, which include two regional magazines. They should be comfortable working with reporters and freelancers, and with contributing creatively to our vision for the future.
