Job Summary The Assistant EHS Manager supports the beef processing facility from an environmental, health, and safety standpoint. This position reports to the EHS Manager and has one EHS Coordinator as a direct report. They are responsible for working with the EHS team in order to ensure that Creekstone Farms is the safest it can be and in compliance with all regulations and practices that are in place. This individual will perform these functions using a continuous improvement mentality and will work to perpetuate a "Creekstone Proud" culture through attitude and actions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EH&S presence and provide support * Perform routine safety observations to ensure and enforce compliance with regulatory agencies, as well as company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and practices * Observe EHS regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel * Assist in compliance reviews/audits, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support the Environmental, Health and Safety Department * Be a participant of the Hazard Risk Assessment Team in the development and maintaining of Qualitative Hazard Risk Assessments (QHRAs) * Provide assistance and advice on EHS issues to make recommendations to facility management * Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training * Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance * Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies * Assist the EHS Manager with the development and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans, and other EH&S initiatives * Participate in detailed Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents, under the direction of the EH&S Manger. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained * Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization * Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE * Learn to perform Storm Water Discharge sampling and document events along with required monthly audits * Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment * Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, EAP, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc. * Perform new hire and/or contractor orientation(s), when necessary * Perform additional duties as assigned by the EH&S Manager     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management or similar major, and 0-1 year of experience required * Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information while meeting stringent deadlines * Excellent problem solving and analytical skills * Experience working with KDHE and regulator reporting such as emissions, TIR, permitting, storm water etc. * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing * Functional with basic office software – Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Internet navigation, etc. * Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain a professional demeanor in all situations * Enthusiasm, good attitude, integrity, and honesty are required * Good human relation skills demonstrating ability to work with employees throughout the organization * Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive, and professional manner * Excellent organizational and time management skills * Able to work on a team and be a proactive problem solver * Must possess a keen attention to detail Creekstone Farms Premium Beef LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
