We’re looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager to join our Store Service Centre in Nottingham. This role plays a critical role in supporting the engineering team by ensuring the successful execution of projects, maintaining high technical standards, and driving continuous improvement. This role bridges the gap between hands-on engineering work and managerial oversight, fostering a high-performance team environment while aligning engineering efforts with business objectives.
Engineering Team Leadership – Support, mentor, and guide engineers to ensure project success and professional development.
Project Execution & Delivery – Oversee engineering projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement –Lead the overall site continuous improvement Agenda to Identify, develop, and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Technical Oversight – Ensure engineering designs, plans, and solutions meet industry standards and company requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with wider engineering function and cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with operational and business objectives.
Risk & Issue Management – Proactively identify and mitigate risks to prevent project delays or technical failures.
Performance Monitoring – Track individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
Compliance & Safety Management – Ensure all engineering activities adhere to health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Resource Planning & Allocation – Assist in workforce planning, ensuring the right skills are available for day to day tasks & projects.
Continuous Learning & Development – Encourage technical skill development and upskilling among engineers.
Growth – Provide like for like service for the Engineering manager and Maintenance manager roles for periods of holiday/absence
