JOIN OUR TEAM AS THE ASSISTANT ENGINEERING & PROJECTS DIRECTOR

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Engineering & Projects Director to provide direction and coordination of operations of the Town’s Engineering and Projects Department. This position will administer implementation of the Stormwater Utility and Traffic Operations Programs and assist with administration of the Town’s Capitol Improvement Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • South Carolina Professional Engineering License and/or Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector (SCDES) Certfiication
  • if does not currently hold any of these, must have ability to obtain either within six months from date of hire
  • Valid driver’s license
  • May require varied work schedule
Responsibilities
  • Direct activities of the Stormwater and Traffic Operations Divisions within the Department
  • Assist with development, justification, and administration of the department budget
  • Coordinate and administer the work of engineers, consultants and contractors concerning design and construction of various projects
  • Assists with administration of the Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
  • Manage assigned staff
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Stormwater and Traffic related inquiries and issues
  • Collaborate with Town leadership to develop long-term plans and strategies for infrastructure development and maintenance
  • Assists with communicating project goals, progress, and impacts to the public, elected officials, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct public meetings and presentations to engage the community and gather feedback on program initiatives
  • Provides direction concerning Town safety program
