[What the role is] Science Centre Singapore is dedicated to the promotion of interest, learning and creativity in science & technology through imaginative and enjoyable experiences, and to contribute to the nation's development of its human resource. The Exhibit Maintenance team is looking for a suitable candidate to join the team of engineers and technicians, on a contract basis (renewable), as an Assistant Engineer (IT & Systems) to ensure that all the exhibits and experiences are operational to the highest level for the enjoyment of our visitors. [What you will be working on] As an Assistant Engineer (IT & Systems), you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits and experiences in the Centre. You will be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve computer-related and electro-mechanical faults that might arise within the exhibits and experiences, in the Science Centre and KidsSTOP on a rotational schedule with the rest of the Exhibit Maintenance Team. Additionally, you will assist the team’s IT lead on carrying out periodic image back-ups of our exhibits, maintaining the exhibition network and administration of the team’s knowledge management database (storage FTP server). This includes providing technical advice on IT related matters to the team and the project development teams. [What we are looking for] The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma in Information Technology with specialisation in any the following: - (a) Internet Networking (b) Immersive Experience or Gaming Development and Systems (c) Server or Data Storage Management Familiar with troubleshooting basic computer hardware faults and diagnosing software issues within an exhibit with the ability to resolve these issues is preferred. Those with the following knowledge and expertise would have an added advantage: (a) RAID/NAS Storage Systems (including different types of storage media) (b) Smart Home Systems (c) Basic network setup and administration (port forwarding, static IP/DHCP, DNS, subnetting, FTP server) (d) 2D & 3D basic game design, development, and game engines (Unreal, Unity etc.) Other Skills/Abilities Haveing a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things, coupled with the ability to handle basic equipment and tools useful in carrying out the duties within the galleries. Values and qualities such as, being professional, with initiative, passion, and quality service in all aspects of interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, will make this role even more enjoyable. Collaborative and able to work as a team with people of different backgrounds and experience. Driven, passionate and enthusiastic to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge.. Open to directions and mentoring from team members. Shift Requirement Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.
