Aurora Dairies are currently seeking an Assistant Farm Manager for a dairy farm near Hawkesdale, in the south west region of Victoria. Aurora owns and operates nine farms in this region and the nearby western districts region of Victoria.
This farm is approximately 700ha with a mixture of perennial and annual rye grass pastures. Currently milking 1,400 cows through a 80 bale rotary shed with ACR’s and auto teat spray, this farm is 70% Autumn and 30% Spring calving.
Accommodation will be provided to the successful applicant in a family home, and there are opportunities for employment for your partner on this farm or one of our nearby farms if required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The desired skills and experience for this opportunity are:

  • Extensive dairy industry experience (a minimum of 3 years)
  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Agriculture or a related field is desired
  • Committed to ensuring a safe workplace
  • Reliable and punctual and ability to take responsibility
  • Good work ethic and positive attitude
  • Leadership skills and team player.

Responsibilities

Our Assistant Farm Manager role is a full time position and involves completing various tasks in the following areas:

  • Driving and upholding Animal Health and Safe Operating Procedures
  • Herd management and nutrition, including calving, hospital herd care, AI/mating planning, dairy shed work and more
  • Irrigation and pasture management
  • Supervising staff
  • Machinery operation
