QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsible for the overall day-to-day financial aspects of the accounting department.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Thorough knowledge of general accounting including through skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory.
Strong leadership skills.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work and interact with department managers throughout the agency.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Detailed oriented.
Ability to perform multiple tasks.

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Accounting software (PROFUND or similar) and PAYCHEX.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Responsible for directing, coordinating and reviewing the work of a number of accounting associates in all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchases, etc.)
Process month-end balancing and journal entries.
Complete the month-end process.
General ledger analysis of accounts.
Prepare monthly Standard Reporting Package.
Process deposits in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures.
Prepares monthly reconciliations of company’s bank accounts.
Engaged in the more critical and confidential aspects of accounting and budgeting.
Responsible for maintaining fixed asset ledger.
Responsible for taking annual fixed assets inventory.
Responsible for making or supervising travel arrangements for staff and board members.
Participate in accounting work on involved projects and special financial studies.
Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
Works with confidential data which if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
Assist staff with insurance enrollments and applications for benefits.
Process insurance application for staff and compute premium withholdings.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Confirm with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
