This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 220 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• CA or CPA qualified
• Minimum 3-4 years experience in a technical accounting role with proven ability to understand and apply the requirements of the Accounting Standards.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a geographically distributed team, alongside engineering specialists.
• Strong excel skills, with confidence building optimised spreadsheets using advanced functions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a willingness to collaborate with stakeholders across finance, technology, operations and sales. You will need to display a willingness to ‘learn the language’ of our technology specialists.
• Have a “can do” attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Company is looking to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager, who will be a critical member of the growing finance function. On offer is a unique hybrid role, incorporating elements of technical accounting and FP&A, with scope to also get involved with process improvement and ERP transitions. The position will report to the Financial Controller, however will also directly work with senior stakeholders including the CFO and CTO as part of core responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

• Collaborate with R&D teams to implement and maintain systems for project costing, budgeting and tracking.
• Implement effective cost accounting methodologies to track and allocate expenses associated with R&D projects for the purpose of cost capitalisation as well as R&D tax incentives.
• Implement and improve financial models and processes to enable detailed budgeting and forecasting at both the R&D project level and company level.
• Prepare detailed company forecasts on a monthly basis, including variance analysis and analytics, for senior stakeholders including the CFO and Board of Directors.
• Working closely with the Project Accountant to assist in upcoming ERP and CRM transitions.
