This role is responsible for the provision of a financial support to the Adult, Children and Community Care Group. This will involve providing clear and comprehensive financial support to stakeholders. Experience of managing challenging financial issues and supporting the delivering successful service redesign projects is essential.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality and timely financial management support to budget holders
Key duties will include quality assuring all financial ledger inputs and outputs, providing pro-active variance analysis, support and advice to budget holders; to ensure that services are aware of, and can develop effective action plans in response to, emerging budget issues. This role will contribute towards delivery of training to finance and non-finance staff and will be responsible for the accuracy of key inputs provided for annual budget setting, e.g. the sign off of staffing details for budget setting; prior to review by the Finance Manager.
You will be involved in developing financial forecasts and will contribute to monthly financial reports that provide the basis corporate and external financial reports and meetings. The post holder will be required to co-ordinate work to deliver routine operational procedures and to demonstrate initiative
A critical part of your duties will be responding to the need to continuously modernise the financial management function. This will involve performing detailed reviews of financial procedures, systems, ledger coding and reporting, and increased automation and use of IT to allow increased focus on service transformation. Whilst the Finance Manager will have overall team responsibility to co-ordinated this work, you will play a key supporting role in detailed reviews and planning to modernise operating procedures.
