What You’ll Do

IN THIS HIGH-VISIBILITY POSITION, YOU’LL:

  • Lead and Support: Supervise and mentor financial staff, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Manage Fiscal Operations: Oversee accounting, payroll, procurement, and budget processes while implementing strong internal controls.
  • Shape Strategy: Partner with the Finance Officer to build budgets, streamline procedures, and strengthen financial systems.
  • Ensure Compliance: Work closely with auditors, leadership, and state officials to maintain transparency and meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Drive Results: Approve expenditures, monitor funds, and produce timely reports that support smart decision-making.
  • Engage the Community: Represent the department in meetings, presentations, and collaborative projects.
  • Support Emergency Response: Train and serve as part of the agency’s Response Team when needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: 5+ years with a Bachelor’s, or 4+ years with a Master’s, in accounting or finance.
  • Preferred: Prior government or public-sector financial experience; supervisory background.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for field duties.
  • Up-to-date on CDC-recommended immunizations (with allowable exemptions).
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours when needed.
