Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00 an hour Who We Are: Tri-County Community Action Agency, Inc. The agency consists of multiple programs that are created to empower people in Halifax, Charlotte, and Mecklenburg Counties of Southside Virginia. Through collaborative efforts, engaged staff and partnerships, Tri-County is able to further our mission to eliminate the violence of poverty through advocacy, empowerment and self-sufficiency. What We Are Looking For: The Assistant Finance Officer, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the agency’s financial operations to ensure all financial systems are in place and functioning effectively. The Assistant Finance Officer will perform accounting duties such as recording receipts and disbursement for financial transactions on the general ledger, generating financial reports on a timely basis, and assisting with budgeting, grant invoicing, payroll functions, and accounts payable, while maintaining appropriate accounting records. What You Will Do: Responsible for federal and state payroll tax reports, W2 and 1099 filings. Record journal entries as required for Accounts Receivables, Cash Disbursements, Charges, Deposits, In-kind, Money Transfers, Interest/Dividend, etc. Assists in the preparation of Grant Invoices and related financial reporting. Assists in payroll preparation and processing. Assists with Agency’s annual audit to ensure the audit is completed timely. Assists CFO, directors, and managers with preparation of grant applications, budgets, and funding requests. Participates in training and related topics to maintain high standards in fiscal operations. What We Are Seeking: Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of 4 years business accounting experience. Analytical thinking and ability to analyze data. Understanding of non-profit accounting is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficient in utilizing various types of software and technology. Must be able to type, prepare and analyze financial reports and communicate effectively with funding sources and other departments within the agency. Valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to pass criminal background checks.
